Ils détectent rapidement les événements graves ou extrêmes, pour pouvoir y réagir sans retard. Un événement survenant sur le réseau peut être détecté par les changements topologiques qui l’ont provoqué ou encore par l’observation du comportement du réseau. Le DLO (détecteur de ligne ouverte) est au nombre de ces outils.
